It holds America's first public school, Boston Latin School in 1635, and first, and most renowned, colleges, Harvard in 1636, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1916. With so many other colleges developing in the state, such as Boston University (BU 1839), Massachusetts became the center of higher edcation and medicine. The economy is
